I love bold colours and textures – to use them in an expressive, cheerful and decorative way.
My inspiration comes from the Norfolk countryside and coast and the changing hues of nature and the seasons. The best ideas pop up when walking with the dogs. My bright studio is high in our attic, overlooking endless undulating fields. When wind gives way to sunshine, I paint in the summerhouse, doors and windows wide open, the dogs dosing in their baskets next to me.
My acrylic still lifes aim for a serene effect and a dreamlike mood.
The more lively paintings of “wild birds” concentrate on fantasy wing creatures and plants derived from nature but freely transformed.
On the more experimental side are the encaustic collages which combine the antique wax technique with layers of painted paper and fabric.
Greeting cards of some of my paintings can be purchased from me – just send me an email.
